Dan Slone, Partner & Vision Wallah

Vision What?

In India, the Tea Wallah responds to your desire for tea by bringing you a cup, saucer, tea, milk, and sugar, enabling you to have your tea just the way you want it. When giving a TEDx talk, Dan was introduced as a “partner” in the law firm, but he told the audience his preferred title: Vision Wallah.

“You tell me your vision,” he said. “A great non-profit, a sustainable, bio-diverse community, a great green product—and I will bring you the elements that we need to make that vision happen.”

Over more than 40 years of legal practice, he has helped local, national, and international non-profits find their voice. He has helped town founders find their community’s story and build on it for their place making. Dan has led brainstorming sessions for entrepreneurs who were creating “change-the-world” products and assisted them in defining a way to communicate with the green community.

In 2023, Dan took a sabbatical to work on his writing and think about where he wanted to focus his attention in his next act. He will continue to work with town founders who are trying to create resilient and sustainable communities, as well as those who are interested in storytelling. Dan wants to help developers, localities, and homeowner associations that are interested in improving biodiversity and preservation of dark skies (and darkness in general). He is interested in paid speaking opportunities to discuss these issues as well. Having written portions of twelve non-fiction books, he is working on his first solo non-fiction book, Saving the Dark Night and her Children: resisting artificial light’s encroachment, and he is eager to share information on the subject, as well as learn from the approaches of others.
